I finished a new Bisque Baby. This one , like the one in my Giveaway, is a buggy baby. hmmmm....I may need to give it some antennae....
The wings are copper, hammer textured, and engraved with a torch heat patina. The copper turned red and black in a way cool pattern....then I drilled holes around the wings and laced them with a waxed sinew. The neck chain is made of vintage rosary chain, black coconut rondelles, garnets, poppy jasper, and lots of my Tuscan birds! The little bisque baby has a copper heart on her chest.
I have already started a third bisque baby. This one will be a goth baby - he will have red and black goth full angel wings and will be painted with glass enamels for his tattoos and make up...
...and this is what I did with the rest of my birds. I made a very long single necklace strung with lots of birds, natural undyed coral, garnets, onyx and turquoise. It is long enough that if you don't want to wear it as a single strand, you could double it around your neck! The birds go in opposite directions so when you wear the necklace they all face in the right direction.
...and look what my DH found under the hood of my car...
...a rats nest! no babies, but the silly thing had chewed through on some of the wires and put a hole in the windshield wipe fuel tube! Poor DH had to spend a bit of time fixing it! For a long time we kept the engine covered with a tarp, but since we hadn't had any rodent activity in so long we stopped doing it - it's such a pain to remember to remove it before you start the car. My DH taped a note to the steering wheel to remind me. So sweet....i need stuff like that.....
...and here's a really great giveaway...Scrappindipity is sponsoring it! http://auslorri.blogspot.com/2009/01/giveaway-suprise-prize-over-100-au.html

Connie, both necklaces are absolutely incredible. I love hoe you mix the metal with the bisque baby and your birds look so good all in a flock together on the necklace. I'm looking forward to seeing the Goth baby. As far as the rat's nest goes, you're much calmer about it than I would ever be.

Your necklaces are stunning!! I LOVE them!!

Fantastic work as usual Connie!
...and a nice little story about the rats nest!
;)
Oh my gosh--a similar thing happened to my youngest son in Boise, ID last year--he found that a squirrel had built a bed/nest under his hood and had chewed through some of his wires and connections--cost him a lot to get it all repaired!
Connie, I'm ALWAYS in awe of your jewelry! Both necklaces are just gorgeous!!!
Love the necklaces. Do you have a website or sell on Etsy? eBay?

I adore that baby!
And on the mice, you poor thing! They are such a pain! We have the same thing here, hundreds of dollars in repairs. Now I live with moth balls and park near a sonic sound machine to deter them.
Good luck!
